I want to find an engagement ring to ask my girlfriend and all I know is that -most likely- a black diamond rose shaped around 5mm width will do the job...

I did a quick Google search for “black diamond engagement ring” and first result was an eshop with fairly low prices (I think). The eshop claims to have certified diamonds by EGL but “About Us” states that they can also send a certification from GIA with some extra money and time.

First stupid question: I couldn’t find anything about black diamonds. Are they real or synthetic!?!? I don’t want to buy a “plastic rock”!

Second stupid question: Where can I find a diamond engagement ring?

Third stupid question: What's wrong with the smilies in this page?!?!

Nothing is wrong with them as far as I can see.
btw, Hi and welcome to DiamondRing.com

Black diamonds are not all that expensive. Because their "blackness" comes from being included you have to pay attention to the structural integrity of the stone. EGLUSA should be only lab you accept of the EGL labs.

Many black diamonds are artificially blackened using irradiation and, as Irish has said, they are often very included. These inclusions can show little flashes of light coming from the black stone and can make the stone look odd, kind of like frozen black water having some slight transparency into the stone. Make sure that you examine the stone and have a good return policy before committing to the sale.

It's a common confusion among many people, no need to worry. Do some research on best brands available in the market. Consider some important factors like trusted and popular brand, cost, style, etc.

I am sure, it will help you to choose the best engagement ring for your partner.
