Was searching the web (through lag and connectivity problems) and came across this site. Actually, I only went to it because they have "Sabrina Jewelry." ![]() http://www.hearts-on-fire.com/hofin...difference2.htm So... Are they saying they're better than the Hearts and Arrows cut, then? I've never heard of them, and just was curious to see if anyone had heard about them. |

I have...
In fact I worked for Christian Bernard Jewelers in Charlotte, NC. They were exclusive dealers for 100 miles at that time. As a matter of fact, there is a one carat HOF in the Smithsonian as an example of a perfect diamond. |
Are they better than the Hearts and Arrows? |
Hearts and Arrows is the generic term for diamonds cut to manifest hearts and arrows. Hearts on Fire, like SuperCert and Eightstar, etc, is a brand name. |

Aaaah. Thanks Hest. ![]() |

HOF are very very pretty in person. in fact, they are my favorite of the branded ideals. if they weren't so darn overpriced, we would have purchased one for my engagement ring. we just couldn't justify spending $13,000 for a 1 carater. ![]() Stasi |

I got a flyer from some jewelry place in the mail that advertised this also. The flyer said that it was actually confirmed by a court of law. I found that kind of hilarious. I'll post the actual verbage from the flyer later Regards, Big Nik |

Yeah... they are kind of expensive. I'm trying to talk my folks into letting me get a nice .75/1.00 to set into that ring design of mine so I can use it as my example piece. *crosses her fingers!!* A /little/ pricey, but if it sparkles like it should, it would only enhance my design, I think. How's this one look?Carat Weight 0.796 Cut: Hearts On Fire Color: G Clarity: VS2 Price: $8,001.71 Depth% 60.9 Table% 57.0 Polish 0 Symmetry 0 Proportions 0 Fluorescence I Measurements 5.94 - 5.99X3.63 Culet N Girdle THIKSTHK Certification Type AGS Certificate # 2872610 [Edited by Cassandra on 02-08-02 at 02:07 PM] |

Ouch!!!
Those are expensive stones! Aren't they about twice the price of many other branded ideals? For instance, Jonathan has a SuperCert, which anyone would argue is as good as any Hearts on Fire, with a higher color, same clarity, same size, for about $4500. http://www.goodoldgold.com/_79ct_e_vs2_superbcert.ht m |

Hrm. I've heard a lot of good things about SuperbCerts. I've also heard a lot of good things about Hearts and Arrows. - Which do people prefer here? |
Actually... I'll buy through them anyway! Their Hearts and Arrows are a lot cheaper! Found a .89 ct for $3,000 less with better clarity! |

Cassandra, superbcerts are hearts & arrows (H&A) stones. H&A is a term that identifies a pattern inside the stone that can be viewed with a special viewer - there are actually little hearts or little arrows going all around the stone depending upon which side you are viewing. superbcert is a brand name that is used by a company that cuts and sells diamonds. their diamonds do exhibit the H&A pattern. the stones also have a distinctive look and are, from what i've seen, "fast" sparklers, meaning, they scintilate very quickly. very pretty, especially in low-light situations. hope this helps a bit, ![]() Stasi |

Hmm. Okay. - And thanks you guys for filling me in! One more question... What's the difference in the cut between the Hearts and Arrows and the Eightstar? I'd actually thought people were refering to simulants before you posted this. |
thanks, wink for that info! Cassandra, now that wink's shared some cut info, i can tell you what i preceive the difference in look is. all of the eightstars that i have looked at exhibit what i like to call the "on or off" phenomenon. what i mean by this is, either they apppear dark, or they are exploding with color and light. other ideal cuts do change between light and dark but it's not nearly as obvious - the contrast isn't nearly as high as with an eightstar. i hope you get a chance to see some and compare them to other ideals. ![]() Stasi [Edited by stasi1974 on 02-08-02 at 07:00 PM] |

Thank you Stasi and Wink. ![]() I don't know of anyone in my area that carry these kinds of cuts. I'll have to go hunting next week and see what I can find. |

HOF
I saw a beautiful HOF a few months ago. I can't remember how big it was..over a carat anyway, it was 25,000. I think that is way to much money for a brand name. I think from all I have read, 8 * rules. But I if I had the money would probably have Jon find me a very twinkly unbranded stone. For that kind of money you could get alot bigger than 2 ct. I mean as long as it is a good stone, how many people would really notice the difference on a woman's hand..?? Inless big money is not a problem to you..then go for the name.. |
Big Money = Big Problem. I don't have any. Money is definately an issue, but, I also want a /very/ good stone. I think I found one from SuperbCert that I'm gonna save for. ![]() |
