Need to sell a diamond

Hey everyone. I have a round diamond that is around 3.4 carats that I bought about 3 years ago for around 100k. Color F, VS1, ideal cut. It was an engagement ring, but I never proposed. Obviously, there's an interesting story behind it, but lets just say I was pretty stupid for buying it and need to sell it.

I'm in no hurry and I've been waiting for the economy to recover. So the question is, what options do I have? How much of a discount would I have to give to market prices to sell the stone? Should I try to find a local dealer and give him a cut after successful sale? Is now still a bad time to sell? Would I be better off holding onto it and try to trade it in when I buy another engagement ring? Thanks everyone

I'm trying to gauge resale values (looking at a SI-VS1 diamonds currently) given I plan to upgrade it in about 5 years or so.
