quartz or Mozambique Tourmaline
Quote this post and reply to it Post#1 @ 11-10-10 , 12:10 PM

I bought this beauty a couiple years ago and was told it was a peridot
but I disagree and think it may be a Mozambique Tourmaline if anyone can shed me some light I'd greatly appreciate. Also it is marked 14K969JTC does anyone know what the 969JTC stands for or an approximate date era for it...

Thx

CAnn

There's no way to tell from a picture what type of stone you have. It could be sapphire, garnet, tourmaline or a synthetic. You'd need to take this to a gemologist to get a good idea of what you have. The trademark was owned by Zales at one point and that may be where that came from. You can check the trademark with the US Patent and Trademark Office online. They have records of all that stuff, but be prepared to wade through lots of trademarks which are the same, but unrelated to jewelry.

Thx MIchael,
This helps a great deal I can at least have an idea where to start, as I have more ring's that are also stamped. BTW do you recommend an online gemologist I could send this to?
