I just signed up today. Looks like a neat site. Poked around awhile and trying to educate myself on jewlery. I have a few items (wedding ring with 7 diamonds which I still love after 14 years of marriage), earrings and a ring with 4 diamonds in my initial L.
The reason I am here is because my Auntie inherited a beautiful heart shaped convertible brooch/pendant that we think is from the 1950's. She's had it in storage for about 13+ years. (My aunt is a backwoods girl so she has just stored the piece in her log cabin). We were going through some of her stuff and she says "Oh yeah, I forgot about that. I think it's old and has lots of diamonds on it." No kiddin'!
I had it appraised because it doesn't look like something people around here wear and surprise it is pretty valuable. (It was her mother-in-law's who passed away over 20 years ago, she lived in New York). Anyway since my auntie can use the money more than a brooch or a pendant (the piece converts from one to the other if you slide the latch on the back to take off the pin) she decided to sell it and I offered to help. I took some pictures and I posted it. I haven't seen the posting yet but it looks like it takes some time. Do lots of people sell stuff here? Is it mostly rings?
That's about it for me. Nice to meet you drop in to say hi and reply to my thread.
My aunt's convertible brooch/pendant is now online for viewing. I am trying to get the picture order changed around but you can find it in the Jewlery classifieds, Category Other - (I didn't know where to put it since it is so unique)
