Everyone always wants to see more pictures so.... Here's a particularly nice Fancy Yellow Round Brilliant of 1.20 carats and VVS1 clarity that we recently set into a custom made hand engraved platinum setting. ![]() Usually we would have used 18k yellow gold for the prongs as well as the gallery and the filigree but this customer was very adamant about the fact that he wanted the contrast that platinum would give as opposed to the more saturated color that we could have brought out. He had some experience with fancy yellow diamonds already and knew exactly what he wanted. The stone's appearance was quite yellow and very nicely contrasted by the platinum although I know it could have been tweaked a little more had we done it in yellow gold.. Anyway, I've picked up an ImageDome and I'll try to find more time to take images of some of the pieces we're creating with fancy colored diamonds. Enjoy the "Lemon flavored ICE!" PS. Look forward to the Lime!

sure...
Not the Hope Diamonds...hehe, but nonetheless soon to be an exquisite pair of 0.50 carat earrings for a very lucky woman! ![]() Excellent saturation in these stones. Blueberry flavor...mmmmmm.

Webz- How incredible. Colored diamonds are so beautiful. It must be nice to be able to create something so exquisite. Are the blue stones diamonds or sapphires? If diamonds, are they natural? I didn't think diamonds could be so deep in color. ![]() [Edited by mokulen on 12-12-01 at 10:00 AM] |

i have a request!
do you have a side view of this one? http://www.icestore.com/rings/ring_detail.asp?ID=25 |
Yummy! Love the split prongs! Nice job on the setting. |
mokulen Yes, I agree that is really is nice to be able to create something beautiful from such rare diamonds. So yes, they are diamonds and they are natural. The color really is amazing, if only they were a little bigger, like 5-6 times the size...hehe ![]() quinn Pretty basic setting...I'll snap a couple of shots next time we make one, just keep an eye on the site, figure within a week or so. diamondangel Split prongs are pretty cool huh?
Webz, Very pretty! I actually like it better in all platinum because it shows that the yellow is all due to the stone and nothing else. And, IMO, the gold metal would be too strong a color for the paler yellow of the stone. Do you have anything in pink?
I love the split prongs...the setting Ray at Tradeshop made for me has them too. I think they are more secure than the standard tiffany-type prongs, and visually they are more interesting. |
I also like the little heart on the bottom...my ring shares some of the details.

exactly his thoughts
erin I'm sure that is exactly what my customer was thinking. I agree that it turned out very nicely but still, it is difficult to break away from accepted practice sometimes. Pink? Pretty in pink. Sure I have some pinks, what are you interested in? angel I agree, more interesting. Nice ring too. I've got the perfect stone for it. Aascher, yes, the real deal with the smaller table and the larger crown. It got Ex/Vg too. Incredible diamond. |
What is Ex/Vg? polish and symetry? Mine is a radiant...7.13 x 6.56 x 3.98. |
earrings information please
Webz, Does this mean those lovely blues are gone!?! Was that .5 total weight or each? I think my heart is breaking. Show more earrings! I change those more often.... |
yes, they are soon to be gone
tieru I'm having them set in earrings and then they'll be gone. They are already sold. The pair totaled just under 0.50 carats. I have another pair of Fancy Intense Blue Emerald cuts but they are over 2 carats together which means BIG $$$. If you'd like to know when I get things in drop me a line and tell me what you are interested in. Many rare and special pieces never make it to the website simply because they get sold too quickly. There are several pairs of earrings with fancies on the site: http://www.icestore.com/jewelry/fan..._earrings.as p But there are also several that aren't. ![]() angel It is a very nice ring and radiant is always my very next choice for a square stone. I much prefer them to princesses personally, especially in vivid colors... ![]() Yes, I was referring to the Pol/Sym in the last post. |
Oooo, Webz, that's nice. I'm not a big yellow gold fan, so I think it looks great in the platinum even if the stone color is not as saturated. Okay, got any nice greens? I'm also fond of the pale grey-blues. Yep, I think I'm going to angle for colored diamonds for my 10th anniversary. Or my 5th, if I can't wait that long! |
lime...mmmmmm!
Yes I have some green diamonds several certified as natural but the majority came back undetermined. This doesn't mean that they aren't natural, it just means that GIA currently lacks the sophistication to make that determination with 100% accuracy. There is another lab called Gubelin that can handle it but most consumers are not aware of the lab's credentials and so... There are some pics on the site. http://www.icestore.com/search/fancy_green_diamonds.asp If you want some more information on the certified undetermined stones let me know. I won't offer them on the site but if someone is interested I'll be glad to share the information. |

That fancy yellow ring is lovely!! The craftsmanship looks great! Hmmm, personally, I prefer yellow prongs for the stone. When I look at the stone, I want the hardware to be visually minimized. I think the contrasting prongs take away from the presence of the diamond color, as it sets up another visual dynamic. If I spent a lot of money to get a great colored diamond, I would want the color to take center stage, not compete with it with another color to achieve some contrasty effect. 'Just my opinion. viva la difference
It's what makes the world go round... My personal choice would also have been to use 18k gold for the gallery as well as the prongs as my preference is for saturation not contrast but it isn't my ring anymore and it's new owner got exactly what he wanted. ![]() I've got a really spectacular Aascher set in a Lucida style setting coming out today, shall I snap a couple of pics? |

adamas The rent can get a little steep but sure, we've got some room... ![]() empresseva I know you've got a soft spot for the Aaschers. I'll post the pictures of the Aascher in the Lucida in a new thread a little later this afternoon. |
