Need Your Help! Looking for setting...
Hello! I'm looking for a pre-made simple solitare setting. I want a four prong solitare setting with no frills, in 18K or Platinum. No U or X Prongs. Most importantly, I want it to be set VERY LOW. Not bezel set, but a very low setting. I'd ultimately like the band to be domed and not too think or too thin. I was recommended by friends to check the classic engagement rings in here. I would like to hear for more places if my Budget is $1200 or less. The ring has to be already made, as time is of importance. Thanks for your help! |

It takes one day to get the parts and put them together for this type of ring. Even though time is an issue, making this sort of thing is so fast, that you wouldn't know the difference between having it made or ordering a premade piece. The lowest that you can set a stone is with the culet just above the wearers finger. This is with a basket style setting. A more typical "Tiffany" style solitaire requires that the ring be at least 2mm higher and usually 3mm higher. Your need for speed may be against your desire for a low setting, as most premade pieces are set rather high and the manufacturers are often not inclined to changes things for one customer, at least not rapidly. I've attached a couple of pictures of a high set "Tiffany" style versus a low set "basket" style head. At your budget level you can have a nice 1/4 - 1/3 carat diamond and setting, finished to a higher quality level than a premade setting, in your hands on Thursday. |

Do you have any strong preference one way or the other in terms of the metal? Your safest bet is going to be platinum, for sure. It's more durable than wg, so it will hold the diamond safer. With four prong rings you have to be especially careful since just one broken prong can leave you diamondless! |
