Looking for Diamond Advice
I have been doing my diamond research and I came across one of your comments form several years ago providing advice to an equally confused customer. It was clear that you were very educated on the issues and I was wondering if you could give me a few minutes and provide me some of that same expertise. I'm deciding between two diamonds. If you follow the link below, it will provide you with a very good side-by-side comparison. You can then click on the individual laboratory certifications, as well as the actual photos of the diamonds themselves (or at least they suggest that these are indeed the actual photos) with a loupe. The price isn't included but I will tell you that one of the diamonds is a couple hundred dollars less than the other ($3,500 vs. $3,300). I'd love to know which one you would select and if possible, a very brief explanation of why. And if you want to guess, which one do you think should be more expensive? Thanks so much. I sincerely appreciate your assistance. Seth http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/...77, %201237753 |

Re: Looking for Diamond Advice
Can't tell if you are addressing someone specifically or the entire forum. The two stones you put up are listed as "no longer available". |

Re: Looking for Diamond Advice
If those are the two you are considering in your pick , get both in and take a look and compare. The smaller one is a hearts & arrows and the other one isn`t, but is larger in diameter. |

Thanks, Brad. It is all online so I can't ever see the diamonds. I can talk to a gemologist, which I plan on doing. However, they will only be able to see the same thing that you and I see. I am now leaning towards the smaller H&A diamond. It is AGS (which I hear is more conservative), better clarity, H&A (although I'm not convinced that means a whole lot), and only .1mm smaller in diameter (about the thickness of one sheet of paper!) Let me know if you disagree with that analysis. |
