My birthday was last month and while I wanted something specific for a while, that idea fell through. When I told my husband to "surprise me" the look on his face was priceless... scared! I mentioned that my brother, Michael E. (a network jeweler here) had a nice aquamarine for sale my hubby looked so relieved. We called Mike and mentioned what I'd like. Since he didn't have anything that I wanted in a loose gemstone he told me he'd have to cut something from his rough aquas. I received it today in the mail. Like I said...lucky me! Maybe Michael E. can fill us in on the specifics of this lovely pear shaped aquamarine. It is quite large and very sparkly. Generous husband/talented brother, sounds like a good combination! |

That aqua measures about 12mm x 9mm and weighs about 2.35 carats. It is an unheated stone and shows it with a hint of green to the blue body color. The setting is from Stuller and is 14K white gold. I cut the stone rather deeply so I also added a cross bar to protect the culet of the stone, since it is close to the bottom of the setting. The chain is also in 14K white and the diamonds are VS quality, weighing about 1/2 carat total. Thanks Melissa, enjoy that for a long time to come ! |
