Can anyone tell me around how old this ring is?

My grandma left it to me and i have always wondered about how old it is. Its 14k white gold. I know it is more than 50 years old. Someone offered her $800 dollars for it when they seen it on her finger before when she was having a yard sale. How can i tell if its a real diamond? I would never get rid of it but I'm curious about it.

I don't know much about antique jewelry, but it looks like an antique to me.

Do you have a loupe? Try looking at the diamond under the loupe. In the pictures, the diamond looks pretty white & clean, but most diamonds have tiny inclusions that you might not be able to see with your naked eye. If you still can't see anything, it might still be a real diamond (but with excellent clarity).

Most jewelers have little laser testers in their stores. I'm sure anyone would be happy to test it for you. It only takes a couple of seconds----you would not have to leave it there, & they shouldn't charge you for it. I've seen the testers for sale on Ebay too----but I don't know about the quality there.

Good luck.

Amy
