online diamonds
Hello, I've been searching various websites for engagement ring ideas. I have found some mountings on Knox's website which I love, but it kind of scares me purchasing a center stone site unseen on the web. Any suggestions? I've heard we can get a better deal online. |

I'm going back and forth between round or cushion. That's about as far as we've gotten. |

i know I want 1.50, decent color, eye clean....that's all right now. I'm trying to educate myself as I am a bit clueless about diamonds. |

Re: online diamonds
Thanks Brian for your response, your rings are beautiful! I have narrowed my selection between 2 of your settings thus far. I have a co-worker that mentioned her mother sells diamonds wholesale as a hobby, and I should visit her, but have no clue what diamond specs to give her, so I haven't contacted her yet. Thanks again |

Here is a nice round: http://www.diamondring.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=105460 Here is a nice cushion: http://www.diamondring.com/forums/s...ead.php?t=69928 If go with your friend's mother, I would make sure you get a stone that has a GIA lab report. Also you probably won't get an upgrade in the future with a hobbyist versus someone that sells diamonds professionally. |

If you are that skeptical about purchasing a diamond (this being online or a jeweler you are not familiar with), I recommend you have it independently appraised. Have a third party GIA CERTIFIED appraiser take a look at your stone. |

Re: online diamonds
“What would you consider to be the key success factors of the online diamond industry. Also, how important each one would be to the industry?” - Matt This recently received question is a subject that I have written about in the past, but is still is a relevant and hotly debated issue in the jewelry industry today. I believe there are four basic reasons for the success of the online diamond sales: 1. Convenience and a feeling of being in control of the buying process. 2. The perception of a better price 3. The perception that diamonds are a commodity and the certificate contains all the information necessary to make an informed decision about beauty and value. 4. No sales tax |
