Can someone please recommend a good appraiser in Michigan, preferably in the Metro Detroit area? I just got married Sept. 29! And, I love my new engagement ring and wedding band. The engagement ring is in 14K white gold, 1.0 ct. princess cut center, G, SI1 with .60 ct. G/H, VS1/VS2 channel set princess cut diamonds on the sides. The wedding band is also in 14K white gold with .60 ct. G/H, VS1/VS2 channel set diamonds. Thanks for your help! |

Appraiser in Michigan
Hi. I, too, live in the Metro Detroit area and I took my engagement ring to a very good, independent appraiser in Birmingham. James Krol of Birmingham Gemological Services was very thorough and not too pricey. I found him on the American Society of Appraisers website (I think that was the one). I don't know if this helps you, but if you live anywhere near Birmingham, check him out. |

Thanks, Fliz!
I actually don't live near Birmingham, but I will keep him in mind. How long did it take for him to appraise? |

It only took about 45 minutes and you stay there in the room with him while he's doing the appraisal. So, my ring was in sight the whole time. Off-hand, I don't know of any other independent appraisers in the MD area. I'm sure there are a few, though. BTW - Congratulations!! |

Re: Appraiser in Michigan?
We have 3 Graduate Gemologist on staff here at Lewis Jewelers. Two of the Graduate Gemologist are also Appraisers that belong to different Appraisal Societies. One of our Appraisers actually does work for the Detroit Institute of Arts in helping to identify Gemstones and Minerals. Stephen Till, G.G. does appointment only appraisals on Wednesdays Peter-John Parisis, G.G. also does appointments, but will have to fit your pieces in...usually getting them done in 1 or 2 days with digital pictures. |
