How do I find out the value of a ring...
I purchased a ring on ebay that is gold, and signed C Krypell. I had the understanding that the ring was one he made a long time ago before he become well known, it is a ring he made practicing. There are some flaws to the ring. It is a daylily. There are no stones. It is also a sizable ring, not dainty. I have an idea that it could be the only one like it that he made or at least one of only a handful. I am wondering how to go about finding out if the ring is worth anything? I don't know anything about jewelry. For all I know it is worthless. Then again, maybe it's not? And if is worthless now, will be worth something years from now? Sorry, I know this isn't a 'diamond' question, but I didn't know where else to post it? Thank you. |

Re: How do I find out the value of a ring...
How much it went for in a public ebay auction isn’t such a bad place to start in deciding how much it’s ‘worth’. It’s possible that a consignment jeweler or auction house may be able to sell it for more than that and it may be worth your trouble and costs to ask (there’s often a fee from the auction houses to evaluate things and competent appraisals ALWAYS come with a fee) but in most cases this sort of transaction doesn’t work out as a profitable deal. Enjoy the piece and enjoy the knowledge that you got a part of the history of a famous designer. Neil |
