So for the last week or so I have been going to different local jewelers to shop for loose stones. Every jeweler has tried to educate me and I pick up different important information along the way. I have also talked to my sister which was a mistake becuase she says I should get a stone that costs about 20k (not gonna happen). Any how, every jeweler seems to have their own sales pitch and it isn't working on me so I was thinking about buying online.
1. Can you recommend a store online that is reputable and has fair prices or will negotiate? Jan I already emailed you
2. My sister is giving me the information of where she bought a nice diamond in the diamond district of NY when she was there last year. Would it be wise of me to call him, tell him what I am looking for, and buy it without seeing it? (Obviously require GIA certificate info and original with diamond). Get somethinbg in writing saying I have 30 days and can return it after and appraisal etc.
3. I want a nice stone that you can not see any flaws with the naked eye nor see yellow, what specs should I get?
It is my first stone and am a little un easy about buying over the internet, but I am in sales, and the people I have met with in the stores, should work for me because they are not too bad. They try to sell service (cleaning, maintenance, lose the stone etc) which I don't care about because I can get insurance on the ring right?
Sorry for the long question, but any help would be great.
I am looking for a 1.4-1.51 H VS1-2 with an excellent cut and lots of sparkle. What factors should I use when negotiating?
