Antique 1920s engagement ring
Quote this post and reply to it Post#1 @ 06-10-09 , 06:44 PM

Hi guys,
Well im in the process of choosing an engagement ring. I love the art deco style and have found exactly what i want. So i have a few questions for you:
What questions should i ask the seller?
I'm in New Zealand and the ring is in the UK so wont be able to see it.
Should i be worried about buying an old ring?
Or maybe should i take the design to have a new one made?

Ref:4552

Thanks so much in advance for your help.

Well judging from the photo I don't think it's eye clean like stated in the description. I would ask if there is some sort of professional documents backing that opinion up. That's what I would start with, or ask what the return policy is and possibly get a second opinion/appraisal on your own.

Ok thanks Brit. So it will be safer to get one custom made then?

Well, if you are concerned with the quality of the diamonds I would get one made that looks like it with higher quality diamonds. I was searching for a similar style and that one seems to be one of a kind
Custom made is probably the way you would want to go if you want it to look a lot like the one you posted.

Well what im really drawn to is more of a cushion cut or assher cut diamond with sapphire around similar to this one which i think is stunning.

But i can find any examples?

Here are two examples we could do. It's pictured with all diamonds, but I think it would look gorgeous with sapphires all around the center diamond. Different and elegant looking.
