It's posts like that that make me glad i'm unborn again. after 23 years as a born-again christian, i'm doing just fine, as a matter of fact even better without the opiate of religion.

born again or unborn again?
You either believe or you don't.
I gave anyone reading that post the bottom line when it comes to the bible.

I don't know about you, but I'm not worried about if I'm doing fine here in my flesh...I'm more concerned that my soul is going to heaven.
You should be be concerned about that.
Everyone's going to believe once they die and stand before him, but then...it's too late. It's easy to believe when you have proof...that's why it's called faith.
You have to have faith, not religion.

Like I said, I'll pray for you

Everyone has made their point, and everyone has made it loud and clear.

Continue the general discussion if you wish, but consider this particular tangent closed. You may take it to PM if you have more to say to any particular individual.

Thank you; carry on.

I voted atheist, period. I was surprised to find quite a few others voted the same way!

I believe we were created by Aliens as an ongoing science project, but if that's not true then I wouldn't mind being a witch.

Omigoodness, Pouffyk, you sound like my dh! Lately, he's been reading these books and sending me links to, ahem, interesting(& sometimes scary!) articles online! He's fascinated with this aliens theory.

This will sound wacko but really, I'm pretty much sane. I was CONVINCED when I was little that my life was simply the result of someone's dream and when I was sleeping he/she was awake so that's why I was asleep. So my new religion is called Dreamianity. hehe

Very clever, Beeboo!
Hey did you know that a man named Stephen Thaler was able to create a "near death" experience in a computer with artifical intelligence?
I found that pretty fascinating.

mars, can you elaborate? What constitutes a near-death experience in a computer?

It's almost creepy what people can do with computers and I think that takes the cake.

The man who did this was Stephen Thaler and here is a clip from his website referencing it:

"Death - In 1992, Thaler shocked the world with bizarre experiments in which the neurons within artificial neural networks were randomly destroyed. Guess what? The nets first relived all of their experiences (i.e., life review) and then, within advanced stages of destruction, generated novel experience. With this very compelling model of near-death experience (NDE) hopes for a supernatural or mystical explanation of this much celebrated phenomena were forever dashed"

That about says it all folks!
