I've lost weight since I ordered my wedding band. As a consequence, I decided to visit my jeweler and discovered that it needs to be re-sized down by 1 size.
The ring is a platinum plain curved 7mm wide 1.5 mm thick.
Jeweler said they would use a press to reduce it.
I have a few question regarding this process.
1. Should this process alter the width or thickness (even by a minuscule amount)?
2. Should the ring weigh more, less or the same?
Any other considerations?
Thanks.

1. Yes, since the same amount of metal is going to have to fit into a smaller space, the cross sectional dimensions have to grow a bit.
2. It will weigh a bit less, as any marks from the press will need to be smoothed out with abrasive tools. The other alternative is to cut a piece out of the band and weld it back together. This would leave it significantly lighter.
