Does anyone have any idea how often the American Society of Appraisers updates its website? For the past year, only one had been listed in TN as a "Gems and Jewelry" appraiser, and he lives in Knoxville. I simply don't believe that there's not a single one in Nashville or Memphis. ;-) |

Submitting to the rigors of exams and ethics
There are so many people with loupes who will stand with a pencil and gauge and do an Appraisal for you. I guess if you pay them to do it they are appraisers. However, when someone submits to the experiential requirements, educational testing, and ethics investigation along with the other qualifiers of designation as an ASA appraiser. You don't find that many of us. But if the public demands professionalism, then the unprofessional's will stop calling themselves Appraisers. And some will Certify with Professional Testing Organizations such as the American Society of Appraisers of which I've been a Designated member since June of 1974. Mervyn L.
