Re: Can anyone recommend a digital camera?
Jill, glad you're getting more comfortable with the new camera! Post 16 really gives us a nice picture with detail of your beautiful ring

Re: Can anyone recommend a digital camera?
Thanks, RubyMu. DH and I are very pleased with this ring. Looking at these pix this morning, I realize how much crisper they were before I resized them. I had to crop, resize, and resize again to get DT to accept them, and after all that, they look so-so. I'll try the link you suggested. The roxio software I'm using on my pc is ruining my good pix. ![]() Jill |

Re: Can anyone recommend a digital camera?
ok... this post totally inspired me to buy a digital camera (I don't own my own - I have to always borrow my BF's) . This one is a 7.1 megapixel! |

Jenny, congratulations! Now you can take lots of pics and share them with DT! No excuses! |

Re: Can anyone recommend a digital camera?
That's very similar to mine. Here's mine below. I'm glad you were inspired, gemologygal. Isn't it a neat little device? It's about as big as a pack of cigarettes, and the screen's big enough to really see what you took. Also, I love the way I can change the display of vertical pics just by moving the camera vertically or horizontally. Pretty sweet. Enjoy! And of course, post your pics of your sparklies asap! Jill |

Wow, I wish I could take pictures like that! Some really good advice. Too bad I'm at work now or i'd try it all out. Thanks! |

Re: Can anyone recommend a digital camera?
I LOVE my Canon A620. 7MP pictures and macro mode will focus on objects 1cm from the lens. Pics I took here: http://home.houston.rr.com/bcardellini/gem http://home.houston.rr.com/bcardellini/gem/index2.html |

WOW bcardellini!!!! Those digital close ups are really amazing! I just might have to look into getting that camera as well! I've always been a Sony Cybershot gal for small digital cameras, but your pics makes me want a bigger MP version now!

Re: Can anyone recommend a digital camera?
Ya know, on second thought, I would NOT recommend this camera. The pictures are good, yes. But I am ruined for buying diamonds now. I'm looking for the engagement diamond and because of my camera I've convinced myself that I need a VS1 or VVS2. (I photoshopped the pictures, rollover with the mouse for the originals showing inclusions). The camera is affordable ~$250? but the ensuing pickiness for clarity will cost you an arm and a leg! |

OH! lol I didn't realize that! Well, your diamond is still very pretty and the camera does seem to take awesome closeups!! In the original version, every detail certainlly shows up nice and clear!

I had to take the above linked photos down due to storage limits. Moderators please feel free to edit or remove my post. But on this subject, if I was buying a new camera, I would look at the Canon A640. It's just like my A620 (which is awesome) but it's 10MPx instead of 7. |
