My only watch is a Cartier Vermeil Tank w/an Ivory face w/ roman numerals. It has a brown lizard strap.

Sometimes I wear my husband's Timex Classic(the most basic, minimalist one).

My favorite dream watch is the men's Cartier French Tank. I've thought about getting it for dh but I might not be able to stop 'borrowing' it.

I wear my Baume & Mercier Catwalk with the black rubber and stainless bracelet just about every day. I think it's cool, because it dresses up and down equally well. It's a great watch.

OH, GOODY!!! An excuse to run outside and play with my new camera!

First: Patek "Aquanaut" (medium size, automatic). The black "rubber" strap is textured (almost bumpy), and the pattern repeats on the dial of the watch:

Ronda, isnt it cool looking? It comes with either diamonds (which I didnt get because I already have two with diamond dials-yes, I am a watch addict), pink sapphires or blue sapphires. They show all three on the Bulova.com website...

There are some down sides to the antique smaller watches...they sometimes have accuracy problems, and you have to WIND them!! (I live in fear of 'over winding' mine and breaking it..)

Also..(of course I'm sure it will be YEARS from now) I can almost guarantee that the day will come when you won't be able to tell time with them because your eyesight will have changed!

Also, there IS something to be said for the really inexpensive watches. You can have a zillion different styles; colors to go with every outfit, etc. etc...and still pay only a fraction of what you'd pay for one "good" watch.

They've got throw away pens, cameras, lighters...why not throw away watches?

-w...which one?

Here's a "wrist shot" of an old watch posted earlier elsewhere. I bought it thinking it was pre-1920, but after much discussion and speculation general concensus is: 1950s.. It's a Bucherer...

So far, anyway, I can still tell time with it without reading glasses!

I don't typically wear a watch. On those occasions when I do, it is a knock off Patek Phillippe Calatrava. If I wore a watch with any regularity, I'd consider getting the real thing. It is a great timepiece as I like something that isn't big and bulky. But I don't see that happening. Speaking for myself, if I am buying jewelry I would rather spend that money on getting something nice for my GF. She'd enjoy it much more than I would. For myself, I'm more likely to buy a new grill than I am a new watch.

Forgot the specs: Bulova watch from 1930s, platinum with diamonds and emeralds and the original filigree clasp. New grosgrain band. Perfect working condition (manual, of course).

I love those old Cartier Tanks. I bought one for my girlfriend, and she loves it! I'll try to post a pic of it. As far as newer styles are concerned I don't like alot of them to be honest. We both prefer leather straps (most black.) Her Tank has a black allilgator strap with a deployment clasp.

Her daily wear watch is Pulsar that is pretty much a Rolex copy. It's got a black dial with gold hour markers, and with a stainless case and gold tone bezel. This one also has a black leather strap. It's a nice watch for the money.

My fave right now is my Seiko tank. It's gold with an amber dial, and a gorgerous brown lizard strap. I have several others, but this one I tend to wear the most.

i know this is an old thread...

i own a raymond weil two tone tango watch. it's very nice... but... i let the saleslady talk me into buying a two tone. i know white metals are all in style, but i am a confirmed yellow gold gal.

i had originally wanted a bulova 14k yellow gold quartz movement. and that need is still unmet. While hubby and i are choosing to live on my salary alone this year, Ain't gona happen. looking in pawn shops.

LadyKemma, I'm sorry you won't be able to get your watch this year. Hopefully things will be better in the future or you find a great deal [like usual] at a pawn shop!

I have a 14kt tricolor gold watch that I really never wear anymore. I had switched to a two toned watch because I too like to wear YG and WG in my jewelry and it went with both. But...I am old and now NEED a large watch to be able to see the time without my glasses...sigh...so now I'm wearing a SS Concord Impressario. I can see the dial and I like it for casual dress.

Elliefold, I really like your Michele watch. Nice Choice!

The men's Concord Impressario uses the Zenith hi-beat movement which is outstanding. The watch is horribly undervalued in the used market. Only downside is that it is expensive to service.

I switch between an IWC Ingenieur SS chronograph and a Breitling Emergency Orbiter Addition in Titanium. I also have a mid-size Rolex datejust gold face /gold wrapped case with a black aligator band. I am thinking of selling that one.

I've lusted for a Lange for a long time, but I can't afford the admission. I have owned several Breitlings, and still have my M-1, but never had a need for the Emergency.
