would like to know anything about antique - possibly 1800's or early 1900's Orange Blossom Diamonds. Can anybody out there assist me?

Hi Helen,

could you provide more details?

yes, thank you for your response to me - this is a very special ring - the lady who owns it is in her 80's and came from a very wealthy famous family from virginia. unfortunately, she is in dire financial straights and needs to sell it. first of all, i need to know more about the brand "orange blossom", which is an old company that only, from what I understand, produced fine diamonds. It appears to be a vvs or a vs, and the color is great. there is an open culet in the cut - and someone said it is an old mine cut, although i am not sure about that. it is a round diamond, set in a square plat. setting.
wondering if, while she is still alive, i need to get a picture of someone wearing it from the early 1900's or earlier; and some affidavit from her or whatever, to help with the future of this beautiful ring.
there is a story behind it, i might share with you some time, but right now i am really just interested in finding out more about it, finding someone who can appraise it and so forth.
i have searched and searched the internet and the only hits i get are an occasion jewelry store that specializes in antique and estate rings, but once i get to their site, i can't find any reference again.
the diamond talk site has a few hits on it; someone posted that they saw a brochure on it about 20 years ago, and wanted to know where to find one; another person mentioned that the companyw as in Canada, but despite all of my efforts, I am coming up with nothing of any help.
thanks again. i look forward to hearing from you.

hey david, forgot to mention that this elderly woman inherited the ring from her great-grandmother.
thank you.
by the way, the ring has lots of fire.

Orange Blossom "brand" or cut?
Quote this post and reply to it Post#6 @ 03-18-01 , 12:38 PM

I'm really not sure if it is an "orange blossom cut" or an "orange blossom ring" or how that is referred to. I just know that it is "stamped" "Orange Blossom" inside the ring.
I would appreciate your help or anyone else's for that matter.
thanks again.

It is my understanding that Orange Blossom was a line of wedding bands characterized by engraved designs resembling orange blossoms around the ring. The company later added an engagement ring line. Unfortunately like many old jewelry names the company has bee sold or merged and I am not sure that anyone is still using the name. And I cannot find a Orangeblossom listed in my 2001 Jewelers Directory.

I also have an "orange blossom" ring. Mine was given to me by my mother and it was supposedly her mother's engagement ring. She said she had it appraised once and it appraised at 7800.00. I wish I knew more about the ring as well.
