I would love a 1 ct round but I am more interested in a good color change that I am flexible with both the size and shape.

Hello I am Fairchild,

I was just uploading a reply to Irish and saw your e-mail. I am not a broker but a collector and I am in the process of selling part of my collection. The reason that I am contacting you is because I happen to have a .80 carat pear shape Alexandrite in my collection. I have a G.I.A. report on it and it measures 6.41 by 4.91mm and according to the report has 100% color change. I am new here but have been collecting for a long time. Let me know if this is something you may be intrested in.

I don't have anything to add to this other than to say that I'd like to see some pictures if you have any Fairchild.

i always thought that alexandrite was really expensive like diamonds. All the stones in the 1 ct size that i have seen were going for 3-4 grand range. Those sites have them for really cheap. Why is that?

Look at the color change and are they clean. This person is honest and tells you that they are not full color change and also that they have some flaws. Also they could have gotten them from a wholesale or maybe one of the T.V. sites where they sell in bulk.

Much of the stuff out there on the market is the brown-grey stuff which isn`t all that attractive of a stone I don`t think.

Top quality Alexandrite will have a color change from Green (daylight) to Red in (incandescent).

Here is a pic of one.

The ones on the tV shopping channels ...
Quote this post and reply to it Post#11 @ 07-29-07 , 04:26 PM

Those on the tV shopping channels have maybe a 25% color change. from a greenish gerey color to a blusih green color.
I would love to see one with a GIA cert that has a real discernable colro change.

Some go from green to a purple. Khazar has lots of those, not too fond of them. The best ones go from green to a more reddish color.

Just wanted you to know that I happen to have a 100% color change for sale. It is a .80 carat pear shape with 100% color change. I don't have a picture of it but I do have a G.I.A. report stating this little fact. Every time I try to get a good picture it changes coloe on me and I don't have a lens that will me to zoom in on it to get a good picture.

I buy alexandrites all the time ( mostly online) and following dealers found to be the best for me:

Multicolour Gems @ http://www.multicolour.com/
Africa Gems @ http://www.africagems.com/

You can also learn a lot about how to select good alexandrite @ http://www.alexandrite.net

My husband gave me a necklace. It's fake. I requested fake. Maybe Im paranoid, but in this day and age, I don't want something around my neck that's worth more than my head.

Hi,
I think you better buy Zultanite Diaspore in place of Alexandrite.

Zultanite is one of the precious and rare stone and it change better color then Alexandrite. I have from 1cts to 30cts sizes in stock.
Let me know if you are interested.
Regards.
Mohammed. :o)
