Re: Anyone get a sparkly under the tree/menorah?
Thanks for the kudos on being married 16 yrs, but we just celebrated our 20th last March. Soon, it'll be 21. I'm sorry about the poor timelines in my story... Yes, DH is a wonderful guy. I'm very blessed to have him! Briolette, I love the way that setting swoops up to your oval. My favorite look beside and oval is two pears, like in this attachment: |

Re: Anyone get a sparkly under the tree/menorah?
Congrats on 21 years then! ![]() I actually was seriously considering side pears as well, but couldn't afford the setting. Another one I couldn't afford...This is the same style as the one we saw in the store, but it was two toned. The bottom ring portion was in 18k yellow gold and the pave diamonds were fancy yellow. This is made by Verragio: |

Re: Anyone get a sparkly under the tree/menorah?
Have you thought of going with pear-shaped gemstones instead of diamonds, to lower to price? That's one thing I may do. Check out these attachments. I used " paint " to change the color of the side pears in this setting. ( a pathetic job, but I just wanted to get an idea ) The setting is from Gordon Clark Jewelers. I'll start with diamonds, then ruby, sapphire, and pink stones. ( I think pink sapphires are too bright, but that's the only pink I could use. Some of the padparadcha sapphires are a lovely peachy-pink. Wouldn't that look romantic?) |

Look at this! As soon as I put this together, it took my breath away. I WISH we could trade up for an oval! |

Oops the attachment is too big. GO to this link, and choose the oval for the ring. Is it not gorgeous? http://www.diamond.com/DYS2.asp |

Re: Anyone get a sparkly under the tree/menorah?
Oooh! Those are nice. Come to think of it, they kind of look like my mom's engagement ring. Hers is a pear flanked by two pear pink sapphires. She was thinking of upgrading, so maybe she'll let me have her setting (I'm such a greedy daughter ain't I?). Hee hee. This is her ring. I had taken a picture of me wearing it once: ![]() I think that the side stones may be too big for my oval though. THey almost overpower her pear. Hmmm.... I dunno though. |

Re: Anyone get a sparkly under the tree/menorah?
Sorry, briolette, I haven't checked this thread for a while and I left you hanging. That ring is striking, but sapphires are too big for that oval. Could you have it reset with smaller ones? (each 40% of the size of the oval) Jill |
