Stuck in refresh loupe!
Quote this post and reply to it Post#1 @ 05-26-04 , 01:46 AM

Is anyone else having this problem. When I try to do a search (new posts) it gives me the new items, but seems to go into a permanent refresh (every thing disappears for a second and then comes back) making it impossible to scroll down and look at the new post.

If I hit stop it does so I can use DT.

Help anyone. Everytime I back up to look at the search again it starts up.

When I saw the thread title, I thought you were having the same problem I am. About half the time when I open a new thread, instead of seeing the webpage I see the source code, but when I refresh the webpage comes up just fine.

I don't know about your problem though tieru, it's never happened to me.

I'm having problems like yours Tieru. Plus when I click on Diamondtalk.com, it takes me to AllNewPosts page instead of the homepage... Glad to know it's not me going nutts.

I will alert GilbertZ. Thanks.

Thanks Irish! It makes it difficult to enjoy DT with all the extra steps to look at threads.

Hope this gets corrected soon

That's pretty strange. Haven't had any problems like this myself. But there are so many spyware programs these days that do all kinds of nasty things to browsers that you might want to do a thorough cleaning first.

I highly recommend this page:

http://www.spywareinfo.com/articles/hijacked/#removal

But prepare yourself to spend some time on doing this.

I run a couple of anti-spyware programs religiously (besides McAfee, Spybot, Spyware Blaster as well as several other tools I've run into over the years) and STILL had a nasty web page hijacker that I couldn't get rid of until spending a few hours this morning (and still working on finding others). I was amazed at how many things got by all the tools I had running...

So that would be my first step in diagnosing this. Install Spyware Blaster, Spybot (both free), run a full scan, then go to that web page, see if anything else fishy is running and I bet that will clear up the problems...

After all that, the best remedy is to install http://www.opera.com and use it as your browser. The latest version is awesome and it has NONE of the issues that Internet Explorer does, because they actually care about security. They have a tiny ad for the unpaid version, but I found it worth buying, personally...

The sad thing is that if Microsoft put in a tiny bit of effort, they could save a lot of people a lot of time (and heartache with some of the nastier spyware).
