The SS925 means the ring is made of sterling silver=SS which is 92.5% silver=925. The other mark is the manufacturer's stamp or hallmark. I am not familiar with it. Hope that helps.

Are you sure that's an F and not an incomplete B? I know of a hallmark with a single letter inside a star, that in the 1920's belonged to a company called B.A. Ballou & Co.

You can look through here: http://www.chicagosilver.com/marks_...list.htm#_to p and see if you can find your hallmark.

have you had the stones tested for authenticity? If they are synthetic the time frame of when it was made would be after 1970.

I have the exact same ring. I received it for Christmas from a friend. All he would tell me was that it came from a pawn shop. I have no idea what was paid for the ring, but I was also searching for the star symbol with the F in it behind the SS925 inside the ring when I found this post. No luck so far finding the symbol, but it's nice to know I am not the only person who is searching! Please post if any of you locate the maker. Thanks! :-)

did you figure it out? I havee a nice sterling diamond and ruby key pendant with the same mark. I believe it is an older piece and very good quality. I thought it would be so simple to find out the maker. thanks sherry

I have the same ring it came from Walmart and it retails for $79.99 the only difference is mine is the ruby and accents. Now the gemstones are lab created the accents are actually white sapphire, and not diamonds. No telling where it was made I have been researching this for awhile myself. Maybe you could contact Walmart and ask them where it was made. The Model number is R00691-002-WD and Walmart's number for it is 004780616. I hope this helps you out
