Resizing a ring 9 to 5
Quote this post and reply to it Post#1 @ 10-09-09 , 09:13 PM

Hello,

I was looking into a vintage 30's platinum ring for my girlfriend/fiance. The ring is set with a decent size center diamond and several small ones about 1/3 of the way around it. The ring is a size 9, and my gf/fiance is a size 5. The owner of the ring stated it could be resized and shaped easily, with a slight oval to it. Is this correct, and is a slight oval fit comfortable? Thank you in advance for your help!

Sincerely
Tony

I'm not a jeweler, but what I've learned is that resizing 2 sizes up or down will bring the best results. In the case of this ring, I'd find out if the ring was already resized to 9 from its original size and how it was made larger.
I think it will be uncomfortable to wear, particularly if the band is narrow.
