Both my fiancée and I have decided not to register for our wedding coming up June 22...

It will be very small, about 40 people; almost half of witch is my family..

Most of her family will not be able to make it here from Brazil, just her mom and dad...they will bring the gifts from her relatives and friend there...

I guess I just wanted to know thoughts on registering for a small personal wedding like this. Are we making a mistake?

Thanks for any help
CMar

Do you feel that it's improper to designate what you prefer as a gift because the party is small? Or are you trying to discourage folks from giving gifts?

Regarding my own registry, I did not want to make the day about gifts. But we did register, and I've learned that a lot of my guests really like the fact that our list took the guess work out of their gift-giving decision.

Regardless of whether you register, some folks will insist on giving a gift. Some will want to give a a gift and will be troubled that you did not give them any guidance. Some will give you a gift from their own ideas. Some will insist on giving cash. Some won't give at all. Some will be offended that you did not register, making it appear as if you want cash only.

Considering some of these angles may help make your decision.

When I am a guest, I love to had the registry to guide me. And I like it even more if it is on line and I can have it wrapped and shipped to their door without leaving my desk.
