What exactly are Belgium stones. I have a Gemlock eternity ring with diamonds completely around it. This thing sparkles like crazy. If I move my hand in conversation, the person I'm speaking with almost always follows this ring. I had to get it checked out for insurance purposes and the small town jeweler said they were Belgium stones. So what does this mean exactly.

I can't be positive as to what your guy meant.

To me it means that the stone was polished in Belguim which is known for its above average quality of cut. (not a garentee of cut quality)

Learn all you can about cut quality so that you can make an informed decision.

The best way is to L@@K at as many diamonds as possible (maybe more than that).

After awhile you will get a feel for the style of cut that pleases your eye.

There is no need to pay too much for precision you may not care about.

There is no reason to suffer a lifetime with an icky looking diamond that is cut too poorly for your eye (because you saved a few bucks).

This why I want YOU to L@@K at many many many many many diamonds. It need to be beautiful to YOU not your seller.

This is possibly a once in a lifetime purchase ... don't hurry.

Does that help?

I have viewed mostly what were referred to at the time as Belgian cut stones in Australia and the ones I have seen were amazingly well cut so that an M looked like G. I couldn't believe it. I have not viewed many other diamonds but plan to start pretty heavily now that I am back in the States for a month.
