This is a great contest! Thanks for your generosity Steve and Juan!

Steve, when I went to view my receipt, in the alternate address field it says "no alternate address was specified" -- even though I put "contest" in there as you asked....

Cheers!

Has everyone gotten to spin the ring on screen? If you had trouble installing the Cortona viewer speak up and I will try to guide you through.

So far it looks like 75.

I will post the names and designs entered. Then I will draw the winner by placing each name in a bowl and letting Wendy, my wife, draw the winner.

You all are going to love the next contest.

Could you tell me if I did this incorrectly. When I registered the system allowed me to play with an eternity band that wasn't shown with the page of contest rings. I didn't realize this until after I submitted my ring. Is my entry still valid? I just designed a simple eternity ring in 14Kt.
If not oh well, I had fun playing with your software. Really cool!!!

thanks, irish

The sheet I posted was just marketing material I have made up for dealers.

All the rings in the system are valid entries.

And no kissing up to Wendy! Her head is already swelled for thinking up this concept in the first place. "Why don't you just develop a CAD software that makes it easy for people to design jewelry".

Very simply said but 2 years to develop.

Wendy and I do not work together, too many strong wills in one place is not a good thing. We learned that after a week. Actually I learned it after a day, it just took me the rest of the week to get up the nerve to fire her. :^D

Oh, funny Steve! I'm having so much fun with your phenomenal program - I had to show both of my kids. That's why I have three designs in the system - mine, my son's (ok, he got bored and left while I was deciding on stone shapes) and my daughter's. Now all I need is for my husband to wander in while I'm on this thread...

I had such a great time playing with your program! Very, very cool.

And... today's the big day! Can't wait to see who wins and what design they chose

Kids

If you can install the Cortona 3D Viewer then you can spin the ring on screen. In fact once set up you can let them spin it with the arrow keys.

Your kids will think you are as smart as your dog thinks you are. :^D

Also, don't worry about how many designs you have in your file. The system is set up so that you can have up to 20.

Finally, your account on Digital Jeweler is permanent(or until the sytem crashes and we can't recover the data). I think the two choices upon registration, 6 month membership or 5 day trial is misleading everyone. We have changed our business model to allow consumers onto the system and this bit of programming is a throwback to our previous, trade only, model.

Programming changes within the system take time to change since this is all custom programming.

When I win.....
Quote this post and reply to it Post#43 @ 06-13-02 , 10:27 AM

I mean, if I win, can I change the design of the actual ring that finally went into the system. It would not let me change stone shapes for the side stones and I got frustrated and just submitted it? So can I change before it is made or do I need to resubmit before 6 today?

By the way, thanks for this contest. It has been fun.

Yeah mine didn't like the sidestones I picked either. I had wanted a bunch of little baguettes.

You can have my baguettes. The system decided that I wanted baguettes. I tried to change to trilliants and it would not let me. So I hereby give you my baguettes.

Side Stones
Quote this post and reply to it Post#47 @ 06-13-02 , 11:18 AM

Appearantly several people had trouble with side stones.

In all cases they chose to purchase our side stones as opposed to the deafult which is to input the measurements of your own side stones.

Once you have chosen to Purchase Our Side Stones it locks you out of going up and changing the side stone shape.

If you unclick Purchase Our Side Stones then it unlocks the side stone shape above.

There are programming reasons why this needs to be so. When you choose our side stones then the program looks above and sees which shape you chose and presents these to you in the drop down list of our stones. We will look into ways to make this more flexible. No promises though.

And if you win you can change your options.

I can (hopefully) show my ring design. It actually incorporates my e-ring diamond and one of my anniversary bands' sapphires.
