Something That Can Cut Glass

Hi, I have no idea what I am doing when it comes to lapidary, but I am a glass worker and I need a saw that can cut very thin slices from a rod of glass (0.5-2mm thick).
I will be using it to cut rods of glass with patterns in their cross section:

These slices will then be flame polished or tumbled and included in finished pieces.

I would like to be able to quickly and easily cut rods of glass from a few millimeters in diameter to around an inch. Since slices are so thin, having very little waste would be nice.

I currently use diamond nippers but they only work for thin rods and are unreliable. If possible I would like to be able to cut all my murrini with a saw but since some rods can be several feel long I don't know if that would be practical.

Any suggestions? I would prefer something cheap (and idiot proof), if possible less than 300$ (but I can go as high as 500).

A small trim saw would work fine. Blades can be has as thin as 9 thousandths or so, but remember that the really thin blades can cut you. They also aren't very stable if you put much pressure on them. The good news is that they're cheap. Try this link for a large assortment of saws :

It is cheap and comes with a .012 blade (probably a good compromise between thinness and durability.
