hello everyone!

I want to start one of my childhoods dream: SCUPTING GEMSTONES!!

I dont know where to start from...

which machine should I first buy, i heard about a dremel tool...
where should i buy my rough material from??
which health security tool do i need to stay alive and not breathe the toxic dust
Are there any great books or dvd on sculpting gemstones

Sorry, I don't know anything about lapidary work or gem cutting.

If you're looking for info on lapidary work, you could PM castocreations. I know her grandparents are skilled artists, and she makes some beautiful jewelry too.

Hans Meevis has a neat site showing some carving here:

You can also google "Gem carving" and get a bunch of stuff like this:
http://www.lapidaryjournal.com/feature/carving.cfm Most gems are carved wet and so breathing dust isn't much of a problem. A simple dust mask is adequate for anything small. If you're thinking of bigger stuff check out some of the articles and links here:
