I'm planning on popping the question to my loved one. She told me that she would like a gemstone with diamonds in the past. I have a few in mind that looks like something she would like. Searching around I found the best assortment on Amazon but I'm not sure if I'm getting the best deal or quality with these rings I have found. I'm willing to spend a little bit more need be for the right ring. For some rings I found that the prices reflecting the carat's fluctuated with some that claimed to have more carat were actually less expensive? Which has kind of confused me.

There could be a number of reasons.
* Although Carat weight determines price in a gemstone, it's Color and Clarity are more important in determining quality and therefore cost. It could be the various rings have differing quality of stones.
* Diamonds vs. no diamonds can change the costs.
* Gold weights of the settings might also be a factor.
With all that said, Amethyst isn't as hard as Diamond so the stone isn't indestructible. If your gf is hard on her jewelry don't chose a high profile ring-the stone(s) will be vulnerable to getting hit. If you chose princess, heart, or pear make sure the tips are well protected by a prong.

Gems... Perhaps Michael E of gemshoppe can help you, he's a member here. I bet you will hear from him soon so I suggest that you do not leave this thread.

I honestly like the 2nd one.
It's kinda hard for me to appreciate heart-shaped gemstones.
Women may like 'hearts' but when it comes to jewelry it is best
to ask your girl first.

For your engagement ring, it would be nice to have a cushion shaped purple amethyst center stone, and some diamond side stones.
