Hi everyone,

I just posted a reply to one of the threads and thought maybe I should start one.

My fiance and I just decided on a place in Va Beach. It's a beautiful reception/banquet room with a gorgeous view of the Chesapeake Bay..right on the sand with a veranda around the building.

The daytime event fees are as follows:
3800 min. Food & Bev. fees
room fees- 350..we are reserving the outdoor pavilion as well as the inside space.
Dance floor set up fee-75 bucks
Bartender fee- 150 bucks
Cake cutting fee-included
Champagne toast- included
Center Pieces-included..of course we can add to it

All togther it looks like for 75 people it will be about 50 dollars per person.

Is this reasonable? Is it possible to negotiate additional fees such as dance floor set up etc..? I'm in sales as well and know that there's always a way to bargain..but also understand some things just can't be bargained with. I'm just wondering if anyone had negotiated fees before. I'd love any feedback.
Thanks.

Not sure how much this will help - but we just booked a large chinese restaurant for our banquet, and we were able to negotiate the corkage fee, cake fee, and dance floor charge. I have to admit though, it wasn't that hard to do, which might be because most chinese restaurants don't have any of those charges to begin with.

My take on it is this - it sure wouldn't hurt to try negotiating, so why not try?!

There are a lot of catering services nowadays that providing such items in package deal. By this means the caterers will be assured that they will cover the entire event and at the same time the wedding partners get a chance to lessen their expenses because it is package deal. That is what we did on our wedding last May 23, 2010. We've done it a full package deal. Try to search in your communtiy im sure there are caterers offering same thing. Good luck.
