I clock at least a 12 hour day 5 days a week, and I would WAY MORE pissed off if I left my diamond ring at home, than if I left my Blackberry at home!

After a long day of work, I LOVE seeing sparklies on my hand.

Plasma TV over diamonds?!?! PURRRRR-LEASE! Utter rubbish! I reckon this is purely because Oxygen has more electronics and gadget people beating down their door for advertising. If my husband bought me a plasma TV for Christmas, I would knock his lights out - with the naffin' TV!!!! DH? Consider yourself warned............!!

I suspect this has more to do with selling advertising than either diamonds or electronics. A study by a TV channel showing that many women viewers feel that they don’t have enough available time in their busy lives and are looking for solutions are conveniently overlooking the most obvious choice. Turn off the damn TV.

TV vs. jewelry... that's an odd choice, isn't it !

Would anyone even consider them as competing uses for the same budget in any circumstance? These two just don't mix at all in my book.

Strange enough. And the way that article puts it is even stranger, IHMO. Why would anyone be proud (is that what they imply?) for making such a choice anyway? Silly stuff. Not even funny...

I don't believe it. Just because something is in print doesn't always mean that it is true. And that seems to be particularly a problem on the internet.
Also I've found most newspapers and magazines are rarely accurate either and slant the way they want the story to go.
Besides, when we were shopping for a TV a year ago, they were telling me that plasmas only have about a 3-4 year life. A diamond is forever.

I competely agree with Neil, also I feel offended by the statement that women should feel "proud" of this choice - If we are to be taken seriously we should have the same interest as guys but if we behave in accordance with our feminine nature than it makes us somehow inferior? That kind of stuff really gets my goat! I am a successful, intelligent, career woman and mother, and if I like jewelry that means I apreciate beauty, design. Why aren't men poo poo-ed for watching sports GRRRRR

I read the article as well and found it quite silly... I have a cell phone, a MP3 player and many other techie things, but I do still love diamonds and jewelry! I am with mira in that I work hard and if I want to make the choice to buy a diamond instead of a TV that doesn't say anything about my intelligence, only that I would rather have a diamond.

And, since when did having a TV mean that you were intelligent? I thought that for years they have been saying that watching too much TV was a bad thing! I don't remember hearing that about diamonds
