Know any good independent appraisers in the Richmond Va, area? |

I had a ring appraised by an independent appraiser who is at Rothchild Exquisite Jewelry every Friday between 12 and 6. They usually recommend that you call first to set up a time but you could also just show up (282-2000). Rothchild is located at 304 Libbie Avenue right near Libbie and Grove. I paid about $70 for an insurance appraisal of a ring appraised (for insurance purposes) at around $10,000. Email me if you would like the name of the appraiser or any other information. Her signature is followed by: G.G., F.G.A., I.S.A, N.A.J.A which I assume are associations that have accredited her. |

I had my stone appraised by Sally Bridenstine. She's a GIA GG, as well as a really nice lady. She worked in a museum before she got her gemological training. She did a bang-on appraisal, seems to have nice equipment, and she was happy to talk about what she was doing. Coincidentally, she also did my appraisal at Rothchild on Libbie. I think she charged me sixty bucks, and additional pieces would have been $45. |

must be the same person
I just dug up my paperwork...she's got the same initials after her name. I suppose her phone number would help. She does appraisals at Rothchild as previously mentioned, but she also can do in-home appraisals, as all her equipment is portable. She's also very good about returning phone calls. PM me (or ShanDunf, I guess!) for her number. [Edited by FireGirl on 01-19-02 at 06:42 PM] |

one last time...
Most of the local stores offer appraisals, but at either ridiculously high prices or requiring a long wait. I called most of the reputable places around here - they either had appraisers who came in once a week or less, required me to leave the stone all day (rrrrright) or they told me that the appraisal would take 15-20 minutes. |
